Collection: First World War Historical Fiction
There is a lot of fiction set around wars. It makes sense. They are exciting, horrible, emotional things, so are perfect for fiction. None of them are ‘nice’ to think about, but there is something particularly heartbreaking about the First World War. The naive optimism of some of the soldiers involved, and the scale of it being beyond anything they had seen before. So, again, not nice, but it makes for some very impressive, and often moving and horrifying fiction.
So if you are picking up one of these First World War fictions, you are probably not in for a fun time, but they are well worth a read.
