Historical fiction is one of our favourite genres of book. It just adds an extra dimension to a story. You can read a crime novel and enjoy it, but set that story in Ancient Rome, Cold War Germany or 19th century India and you have a completely different feel about it.
Another benefit of historical fiction is that the genre really is just the setting. Do you like romance books? Have one in Victorian London. Prefer a thriller? How about a story about a spy during World War One? You can even have a historical fiction sci-fi book. Time travel is an important part of the genre, so obviously some of them are going to include some historical bits.
