When we were putting together our collection of historical fiction, and coming up with recommendations for people to read, it was amazing how many of them are historical romances. There is probably some psychological or sociological explanation for that, but I think it would be best for everyone if we don't think too much about it and just enjoy the good books.
Regency era books are very popular (we can probably blame Bridgerton for that) but the early 20th century and the two World Wars are very fertile ground (does that count as a pun?). There are even historical fantasy romance books, for those of you with a wider, but very specific, set of genres that you enjoy.
