Collection: Low Fantasy

Fantasy books are stereotypically knights and kings and wizards marching around a fictional world slapping orcs about. Basically somewhere between Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings. But there is another way: Low Fantasy. Which might be a wizard giving an orc a slap, but in a real world setting.

We love fantasy books but we think that low fantasy might be our favourite. There is something really enjoyable about seeing those fantasy standards but in the normal sort of places you see everyday. If you still aren't sure what counts as low fantasy, the most famous example is probably the Harry Potter books. Although it's mostly set in Hogwarts, which is in the real world (well Scotland, anyway) but is a separate magical place. Our favourite example is the Rivers of London Series, which is the story of a policeman working in a special department made to police London's supernatural residents. It's good stuff.
