What We Think

We think that The Eye Of The World is a good start to a seriously influential fantasy series. It is a Tolkienesque epic that kicks off 14 books. So if you get into it, you have your reading sorted for a long old while.

Critics of the book tend to not enjoy how ‘standard’ the fantasy is - it was published in 1990, so there has been 35 years of writing since then. So if you can’t stand ‘old-school’ fantasy it might be worth skipping, but it really is very good. Good enough that it’s still a recommended read 35 years after it first appeared.
