Space opera sounds very fancy as a genre title. Possibly too fancy, but we can't think of a better title. If you aren't sure what a space opera book would be like, think Star Wars. Although sci-fi fans being sci-fi fans, no one really agrees on a definition (not complaining. We are up there with the best of pendants in the field of sci-fi pedantry). Basically, we have decided that to be a space opera it needs to be a big expansive adventure with the characters at the centre of it. It's more about the societies and people than the science of the thing (which would be more hard sci-fi).
But what is most important to remember, is that space opera doesn't mean it will be Eastenders on a space ship. If that book exists we haven't seen it yet.
