Ancient history spans a fair old bit of time. It goes from when we all started writing things down (because before that was pre-history), that's about 3000BC, depending on where you were in the world, up to about 500AD. That’s quite a while, which does mean that ancient history books are pretty varied. A book about early Ancient Babylonia, around what is now Iraq and Iran, is going to be a bit different from the collapse of the Roman Empire a couple of thousand years later. Here is our collection of ancient history books, which we think are worth a go. It does skew towards the Romans and Greeks a fair bit, but we have had a go at finding books that cover other bits of the world. We also have a bit on Britain, which for obvious reasons we find particularly interesting.
